Scratch Built Necron Pylon

This is the first plasticard project I ever did, back in 2007/8 I believe.  This took about 16 hours from start to finish and was definately a learning experience...
I cut my self quite a few times slipping, this was before I had a proper hobby cutting board (The green self healing type) and wasn't using a ruler.  On the close ups you can see the sloppy line work, but it served its purpose.  This model destroyed a few ork stompas in its day to be sure.  The crystal was part of a candy jar or something that broke in our cupboard and the gun muzzle is from a bunch of Mage Knight dwarves that were collecting dust.
I've since sold this entire army to a fellow in the US and never heard anything bad about the shipping so I assume it made it down there healthily.  Below you can see the beginnings of the pattern layout, the numerous layers required to make the ring, and the design of the base. . .

Tarkonis IV Command Squad - Counts-as Straken

I was looking through the Codex and stumbled across Colonel Straken and thought that would be a really sweet model. So I set off to make a Cadian-esque version that would fit into my army. I ended up cutting up a necron head to make a ballistic mask and building around a valkyrie gunner's body which is a bit more armoured and would make the 3+ save more believable. . .

Tarkonis Pattern Basilisk

I couldn't find a pattern online for an armageddon pattern basilisk hull so I decided to make my own armoured crew compartment.  I really wanted a low profile compared to what was offered so instead of attempting to copy the forgeworld model I improvised. . .

Blood Angels Dreadnought

I finished off the Space Wolves Dreadnought's flamboyant brother.   This guy turned out a bit too flashy for my liking but there's little to do about that now.  I'm not really a big fan of all of the banners. . .

Scratch Built Macharius Part 2 - Rivets

I forget how many rivets I counted out on this thing but after making them all with the leather punch my wrist actually hurt for 2 days.  Maybe I should hit the gym...

Scratch Build Macharius WIP Part 1

I think I will begin sharing a journy down my Macharius scratch build.  Remembering back the Tamiya plastic cement sure made my head hurt.  Poor ventilation for the loss. . .

Battle Report - 2 games vs Grey Knights

My first experience with Grey Knights was today.  Lets say I feel bad.  I went out to my local GW store where they run 1250 point games on 4x4 tables.  The kind man I had the pleasure to play against was a newer player but long into the hobby. . .

Space Wolves Dreadnought

I finished off the last bit of my Space Wolves Dreadnought this morning.  After a varnish I'll put a decal or two in the thigh guards to seal the deal but otherwise he should be ready to kick some chaos skulls in. . .

Dystopian Wars - Kingdom of Britannia Starter

If you haven't tried this game (Dystopian Wars) I strongly recommend it.  I've played about 8 games so far and they've all been different.  I bought the bundle offered by the maker SpartanGames which includes 4 naval fleets for ~$200 and a rule book.  I've since sold some of the fleets to friends to play with so all in all $50 is a great starting point to play. . .

Scratch-built Blood Angel Thunderhawk

Now seemed like a good time to post up pictures of my scratch-built thunderhawk.  The plans I have are fairly basic so I had to go over a ton of images on the web of real thunderhawks and try to mimic the plating and doodads.  The cockpit on the plans was a little crappy so I decided to incorporate a rhino front onto it. Also I spent some time carving out the different panel layers which really give SM vehicles their unique appearance. . .

Dark Heresy Report

Friends and I started playing Dark Heresy from Fantasy Flight.  We don't bring much experience to playing RPG's as I've never taken part and between the other 3 people I think there's one guy that had played a slight bit of RPG.
So one guy volunteered to GM and I rolled an Imperial Psyker. . .

Index Astartes: The Night Hawks

Home World
The Chapter calls home to Korak Prime, a secluded system on the edge of the Maelstrom. The binary system of Korak is fraught with unpredictable, if short-lived, warp storms which periodically cut the region of space off from the rest of the Imperium. Korak Prime exhibits a unique orbit within the system and follows a figure-eight pattern around both stars. This unique orbit causes periods of harsh draught when the planet passes between the stars. The people of Korak Prime live simple lives with much time spent rationing their limited supplies as the arrival of inter-system supplies is less than regular. The annual dry period forces the populace to roam the surface in search of fresh surface water to bring back to their home villages...

Space Wolf Dreadnought WIP

I got around to priming my Space Wolf Dreadnought last night and will likely get to painting it this week (off from work).  I upsized this guy by adding parts of the dozer blade to his legs (shins) which gives him a 1/2" extra height.  Then staring at him, I noticed that he just didn't look like he'd fit in a SW army (I have 3 dreads and was debating what colour scheme to give them all).  So I set to work on coming up with something for him.  A kilt of course!...

Space Wolves Leman Russ Executioner

I couldn't help but power through painting this thing.  I was so happy to make it and then after using it in a game (as a Leman Russ Exterminator with Pask) it has earned a spot in my army.  It may not be the best heavy support IG can take but it sure was fun to use and struck fear into my opponent.

One Man's Junk

Do I ever love Kijiji.

I've done this multiple times, where I'll find someone who is either impatient, too lazy to list items descriptively or won't divide up collections.

For the latter, most people won't pay what a collection is 'worth' because they likely only need 1-2 items from say a 10 item collection; therefore they don't place any value on the other 8 items...

Logan Grimnar Counts-as

Here's my Logan Grimnar.
I was suprised the shoulder pads fit under the wolf pelt with some trimming.  I also added some spacers at the waist to give him some height (he's about 1 mm taller than my other terminators (which are 1 mm taller than stock).  I magnetised his head as well so that I can take the helmet off and use a face should I ever wish to.

Space Wolf Long Fangs

To continue sharing the Space Wolves, here are the long fangs I've made so far.
I sponged some liberal damage onto the models and tried that out as well as dusting their legs to make them appear worn.  Oh and I tried to paint a boot tread! A little too dark now but next time I'll know better.  You can see the sponging battle damage a bit better up close.  These have since been matte varnished to remove the glare.  The models also have a few odds and ends bits from chaos marines thrown in for the 13th company feel.

Mephiston Counts-As

I finished off my counts-as Mepheston a few weeks ago.  I really didn't like the current metal model so I took a Sanguinary Guard model and added on a grey knight rear torso for a psychic hood.  The large two handed sword (and his mind power!) should show the Strength 10 beasting and the backpack will show off his other power...

Counts-as A Tank

So I managed to purchase someones IG collection for the price of 1.5x Leman Russ tanks (like my new monetary unit that transends countries?).   The pieces were not in that great of shape but lets say it will be easy to divide up and sell everything for the price of around 4 Leman Russ hulls and get to keep two hulls for myself!...

Space Wolves 13th Company Helmets

I figure my first post should be for my Space Wolves which I am currently working on (well the army is done but I'm onto a Leman Russ Exterminator).  This is the conversion I used to complete the helmets prior to the release of the grey knight kits in plastic.  On the plus side this doesn't require any bits purchases as the Wolf Guard Terminator kit comes with 5 helmets...

Grand Opening

I've decided to join the blog fad and use it to show off all of my hobby items in one place.  I'm going to attempt to add all of my stuff over the last few years with a few posts per week.
