Emerald Fist Plague Marines Complete

Villius, Champion of Nurgle
Aulus Villius was inducted into the ranks of the Emerald Fists near 844.M41 after passing successful genetic screening tests. Like all inductees to the chapter, he was a survivor. After losing his mother and father at age 10 to the ork horde ravaging his home world he fled to the nearby forests. Alone and constantly avoiding speed freak patrols he was forced to fend for himself for over a year before relief came to the planet in the form of the Emerald Fists. Flushed from the forest during a whirlwind attack he ran straight into the leg of apothecary Roscius. The apothecary was amazed that a human boy could survive in the wilds amidst a tide of greenskins and had him taken by rhino to the fleet's apothecarium for implantation.

3 Player Warhammer 40k Mission - Updated

We played this out last night and I wanted to make some adjustedments/refinements based on our playtesting.  It was super fun and no one got doubleteamed but a few changes would definately make it better.  We'll definately be playing this way again if there's only 3 people and 1750 was perfect.  Not too crowded or anything either.

3 Player Warhammer 40k Mission

Updated rule set here based on playtest.  For whatever reason, I couldn't get a fourth guy to play tomorrow night so I had to come up with a fun way to play a 3 player game.  We've all done the 2v1 thing and it gets old (or at least doesn't seem quite right).  3 player games also have the problem a lot of the time of making it a 2 on 1.  I've attempted to solve those problems with the ruleset I came up with.  This definately could cause some problems for certain armies but I think if played right wouldn't matter too much.  The fact that you don't need to hold the objective, merely be on it allows some of the squishier troops in the game to still function.  Wave after wave is how the guard work is it not!

Anyway our game will be 3 flavours of CSM and SM so it won't really matter and this is as fair as I could think up.

Emerald Fist Siege Master WIP

Here's my current progress on this guy.  The plague marines are coming along too.  I'm now wondering what colour to do the cape.  I think green will be too much green though.  I'm leaning to something really dark and subdued so either dark blue or dark red on the inside and maybe black on the outside.  That or the reverse.  I'll probably do that last so it will give me time to think.  The red would be an homage to the 3rd company and the codex astartes colour for it.  Thoughts welcome.

Emerald Fists Plague Marines WIP2

Here's just a quick update on where I'm at right now with my plague marines.  I still have to do the bolters, shoulderguards, gold bits, lenses, unpurity seals and bones etc.  Lots of details left but the armour is done I think.

Paint or Die - Allies Edition Pt1

So I have a lot of lazy friends.  I'm not going to point fingers but the laziest ones didn't even join the competition to finish the plethora of models sitting in his gaming bag for the 10 years I've known him.

Roast aside, I had myself and four others sign on to do a paint or die (PoD) competition for allies.  This meant that no one was required to finish a whole new army or something crazy.  I like to paint but being 'forced' into something that big wouldn't be fun for me and I'm sure the interest of my friends would have also been limited.

Emerald Fist - Plague Marine Fluff

I'm currently working on part 2 of my paint or die -allies edition submission.  The squad of plague marines for my Emerald Fists.  I wanted to give some background to some of the characters in the army even though they're fallen, they had to get there somehow.

Emerald Fist Plague Marines PIP

Here's a work in progress shot of my first batch of plague marines and a loyalist captain for my Emerald Fists.  I think the shading in this image comes across a bit better than my last few Emerald Fist images (better or worse white balance).   It's subtle but I tried to make the plague marines look a bit more dark/shaded than the loyalist captain to show more wear on the armour.  I still have to go back and to chips and rust of course and a slough of other things.  This is just the basic armoud shading.  The plague marine squad will be my 2nd entry for the allies painting challenge I'm doing with friends.  The captain is just to tag along :)  He's modelled after a siege master from imperial armour.  That's all for now!

"Sacrifices" - An Apocalypse Narrative Part 3

CHAPTER 3 - SPEED IS OF THE ESSENCE

Prologue Part 1  Part 2

Rules used for this battle are here: Apocalypse Custom rules; these were modified slightly ingame for 'balance'

Techmarine Epathus
"Epathus! Continue current pathing at maximum possible speed!" The vox barked into life as Korvydae's orders could be heard roaring through his helmet. Epathus, seated at the controls of the mighty Deliverance had the machine spirit using all its available resources to maintain course. Enemy fire was incoming from all directions and the tactical grid now showed that the Orks were not their only cause for concern. The Night Hawks had joined the fray. Renowned for their prowess on the war bike and their reverence of the Omnissiah, Epathus felt a deep regret that they were enemies today.

[BatRep] 1500 Orks vs CSM (nurgle)

Deployment
So I will open with saying that I lied about completely nurgle, I substituted a nurgle daemon prince for a slaanesh one with wings and lash; just couldn't help it. Anyway my list was two 7 man plague marine squads in rhinos, a vindicator, plague hulk, two blight drones and the slaanesh DP.

The ork list consisted of a battle wagon with nobs and a big mek in mega armour, a squad of bikes with a warboss, 2 squads of boyz in trucks and 2 squads of 3 koptas with missiles.

Emerald Fist Sorcerer/Librarian Idea

Images c/o Forgeworld
I just placed an order for this disgusting fellow from Forgeworld today.  I just finished a 1500 point game with my new nurgle toys and I'd like to have a fully fleshed out forge world army and this guy will help to do that.  My thoughts for painting him up though aren't solid.  I have two options; paint him white to match the emerald fist base colour scheme, or paint him blue to appear like a fallen librarian.  Option 1 will let him count as a captain or sorcerer while option 2 will be fun to paint alongside my sevrin loth model.  Pretty certain option two will win here.  I'm going to hold off painting loth until the nurgle fellow arrives and do them at the same time.  It will also allow me to flesh out my backstory even more.

Emerald Fists Assault Squad Larcius

Squad Larcius, 3rd company, 7th squad
During the Schism of the Fists, a grievous blow was dealt to the Emerald Fists with nearly 3/4 of their chapter turned traitor, purged or killed.  Much of the chapter was reorganised into functional companies.  Since this restructuring the Fists have not worn company colours on their shoulder guards although each marine remains a part of a standard company.  As many of the younger battle brothers were purged, when it came time to promote a new sergeant due to battle field loses, the pool from which to draw was limited and had the Schism not occurred sergeant Larcius may not have been granted a promotion.  He does not excel in combat or marksmanship however his ability to capture objectives without friendly loses earmarked him for leadership.  In these dark times when the Emerald Fists are rebuilding their strength, every battle brother's life is sacred.
