My last models of 5th edition! I really wanted to finish these for a while but procrastinated. Spent my free time the last few days to finish them up though as I have a tournament planned (4 player round robin) on the dawn of 6th and was debating taking these. I'm hoping something cool happens with mastercrafted but even if it doesn't, the rumors I heard about feel no pain mean that they'll have a decent soft invul against plasma weapons with a sanguinary priest in there.

I put together one of these last night and added a bunch of guitar cables. I've never worked with those before but it was pretty easy and I like the look. I have one more of these to clean up and mount as well. Until I get IA Masterclass II I'm not sure I'm brave enough to paint them though. I really don't want to mess them up and the rust and stuff scares me.

The last of my rebased special characters is mephiston. He was on a pretty bland one before and he is quite the dreadnought killer so I thought I'd make use of this base. I'm going to get a Ravenguard decal to put on it to taunt my buddy who's an avid Ravenguard fan. After quickly swapping over 3 characters to these sort of bases and having pedro mounted to one for future painting, I will be using scenic bases wherever possible on special models from now on. There is just no comparison between them and regular bases. For such a small cost increase you can make a model really stand out. We spend so much time and money making our models look nice yet a lot of the time the bases get neglected and they're just as much a part of the model as any other.

I recently bought a pack of scenic 40 mm bases and have redone a bunch of my named special characters. The first one is Arjact Rockfist. The bases really make these guys stand out from their comrades. I wish I had the skill to make my own (I've tried) but I don't. I also don't have the inclination to buy special bases for each model since it would cost too much but it would certainly be nice. Maybe if I ever find a good deal and there are unique enough bases to do numerous models then I'll rebase everyone. For now though just Arjac, Logan, Pedro and Meph.

Here's my finished Storm Raven before I put the sealant on it. It's sitting outside drying now but I may have put too much on. The top of the intake looks a bit milky. Does this clear up?! If not I'll add a bunch of weathing powder I guess. Anyway here's a whole bunch of different shots of the thing.

I spoke a few months back about a Crimson Fists army that I was going to start which would be the scheme for all of my foot slogging marines. I've decided to go with a 3rd company codex scheme using the red shoulder trim. I realize this may or may not be accurate to Crimson Fist fluff (trimming the shoulder pad) but Rynn's world does describe the green trim of 4th company. Anyway, the third company is led by the Master of the Arsenal so I picked up this model to make the company captain. Imperial Armour Siege Vanguard army list indicates that the company captain of the 3rd even has a signum. This was a really cool modelling idea I thought since most captains are really boring looking. I picked up the bit for the signum, added a giant fist and a GK helmet with tons of electronic equipment. I'll have to GS the GK symbol but otherwise this guy will lead my army (at least in the display cabinet when pedro isn't around).
