Lots of clean up work and then I did some dry fitting to see how I wanted the legs to stand. I pinned these once I was happy by drilling a hole through the two parts, cutting a 1/8" metal rod to fit and affixing with a two-part epoxy. I think the resin would break before the joint did so I'm quite happy with the strength. The model is going to be very heavy so I don't want anything to be weak. You can see a hole in the knee where the rod goes but this will be covered with the knee armour plating later.
I can't get over how large these weapons are. I've cleaned them and attached the barrels to the gatling blaster. They weren't too warped either, just a bit of hair dryer straightened everything out. These pieces aren't too heavy (nothing load bearing) so I pinned them with paper clips. Each gun is about as long as my fell blade!
I tossed everything in a giant pail of simple green to degrease the reaver parts. It seemed to work pretty well too compared to the dishsoap I usually use. Here's a monster pile of all the pieces drying out. I haven't removed the flashing from anything yet. Going to do that as I build things.
Time to start the big project! I premeasured the base so I could ensure it fit in my display cabinet. I want to have some infantry on the base that are removable so I can tie the titan into whichever army/faction it's being used with. I'm going to put it on a forested base to look like it's stomping through the trees. I hope it turns out alright since everyone always uses debris and buildings. New is good!
This model was fun to paint; I think partially because it is a new chassis to what I'm familiar with (so many rhinos). Really nice design too with all of the elements evident in the land raider. Anyway, pew pew!
Armada is such an awesome game and I had to continue painting the fighters from the fighter expansion pack. I'm a bit sad it came with two more tie fighters, since I already had 6 stands, but oh well. I'm sure there will be a 2nd fighter pack someday so I can get more pilots and bombers. I painted the bombers with a very slightly different colour (space wolf grey instead of fortress grey) but it doesn't really show on the photo. I also added the 'ace' stripe to soontir fel's interceptors :)
More painting on my sicaran. I tried out some heat burn on the barrels with some purple and blue washes. Do ballistic cannons get hot like that? Probably not? I assume the entire barrel would get hot and not just the end but what do I know? I like the look.
