Gaming Table Build - Part 1

Here's a spur of the moment project I decided to do.  I wanted a folding table for my gaming room (which isn't a large room) that would fold up and out of the way.  At the same time, I also wanted to be able to hide a bunch of folding chairs inside it so they'd be out of site out of mind.  So I went and bought some wood and got started!  There's a folding leaf on each side that will hang down when put away.  The end result will be a 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 foot table which is big enough for any game we play (realm of battle boards would overhang slightly).

Kingdom Death - Naked Promo Figures - Candy and Cola WIP

After I picked up Kingdom Death my friends and I talked about it a lot.  I'm quite the completionist with game expansions usually, and since these had the promo scenarios released I ordered this set too.  There are I think 3 more minis but they're not built yet.  I put these together and started work on Candy and Cola which is apparently a collaboration with Soda Pop Miniatures - no idea what those are but here goes!  In game her lantern is a soda bottle and she has the hyperactive disorder so she can't stop moving.  Must be the caffeine :)

Kingdom Death - Screaming Antelope Painted

Screaming Antelope loves Acanthus plants, and human flesh
Painted this guy up now too.  My monster collection is really coming along!  I've seen a few of these painted where the flesh is muscle which definitely conveys the nightmare theme, but in the imagery it is just an antelope (fur and all) with the exception of the giant chest maw.  So I went with fur which I think would look better once the miniatures have the armour too.  I think this approach also highlights the mouth a bit more.  These pictures are right before I sealed the mini but afterward I added blood effect (Khorne Blood for the Blood God from GW) to the eyes so they are bleeding/crying blood.  So SPOOKY!  I also added half of some weapon from one of the sprues to the ground as a stone face with acanthus coming out.  He loves that stuff...

Khorne Biker Squad - Complete

Here's a shot of the finished Khorne bikers.  They were built with parts from the forge world Berserker upgrade pack (helms and torsos and shoulder pads) and some bits I got from a local gamer.  I had the spare loyalist bikes in my closet so instead of looking for CSM bikes I just converted those.  Each bike is different and each rider too!  Of course the sergeants are helmetless; they're not smart!

Khorne Bikers in progress 2

More progress on the bikers.  The faces are done as well as the metallics.  I have to do some eye lenses and the bones and skull pieces but that's it.  Really excited to get these mounted up!  When assembling them I tried to make everyone different and to stretch the upgrade packs around though I'm a bit sad I couldn't get MkII bike legs to match my berserkers.

Khorne Bikers and Lord in Progress

More drybrushing and washing work on these guys.  My bikes are already painted so I just need to finish up these riders.  You can see my custom lord too which will get a juggernaut to ride.  Since it's khorne daemonkin I wanted him to look like he was slowly becoming possessed hence the daemon arm and wings.

Kingdom Death - The Butcher - Painted

Here's my finished "The Butcher" for Kingdom Death. This was mostly the application of various earth tones to give some depth.  Lots of rust on the weapons to make them look extra evil as well.  The brass parts were aged with verdigris to make them appear old and weathered consistent with everything else.  Once I seal it, blood will be added to the blades and some of the skinned faces.  Of special note though, I used Kharn's forgeworld scenic base to complete him (it won't match my khorne army).  I think it's a nice homage to the betrayer.  Faces for the face dream?  Doesn't quite have the same ring to it haha.
