Kingdom Death - Screaming Antelope Armour WIP

I saw this pose online and had to steal it.  I can't remember who painted it sadly or I'd give them credit (I think it was on coolmini).  Anyway, consider this a tribute :)

We use Zanbatos a lot and this guy I'm sure will see a lot of play.  I really like the look of this guy.  Reminds me of Conan.

  1. Your skin tones have gotten better and better with each mini.

I see the Lonely Tree in your banner, but couldn't find a post illustrating how you got on with it? I have the kit to put together for a mate and would love to see how you went about constructing yours.

    1. Thanks again! I think I like this recipe the best. The really light tone I tried on the blinds and red heads doesn't turn out as well. Anyway as to the tree I have no assembly photos but vibrant lantern (google it) has decent instructions for it. Definitely a harder mini and even with his instructions I'd fit first and glue second, I think he left out a root piece too and I had to break a seam to put it in. Either way check it out. I haven't written up a post for the tree yet. Watcher is sooner.

    2. Blondes not blinds... My survivors aren't blind albinos. Well not all of them hahaha

  2. Wow this one is looking spectacular. You'll be happy to know I finally cracked my box and have been scraping mouldlines off the survivors...

    1. You won't be disappointed. A change from mass painting will make you happy I'm sure. Just go go crazy assembling all of them until you need them and figure out your favourite gear combos. I think ultimately weapon is most important thing for players to see. So the starting four with their rocks, and then two of the unarmoured ones, one with an axe, one with a bow. There's two 'intimacy' ones that come with swords in there too. That gives you eight unarmoured guys of various weapons to start, and two more unbuilt for later. My recommendation anyway

    2. Thanks for the recommendations. Taking my time with these. The models are really gorgeous, so cleaning them really slowly. Just got the one lady done so far.

I was planning on eventually assembling two "full" from every set, (one male/female) and keeping the rest for mix and matchin.

Are the stone face bases optional? Or are they special?

    3. Stone faces: these are just decorative bases, I think they were a stretch goal from the kickstarter so he put in 10. If you like them you can buy more from his store. I've just been using 3rd party ones like in the photo above.

Male/female - looks cool to have variety but the genders in-game don't mean anything during a fight, so people will want 'the spear survivor' if it matches their gear loadout more so than 'the chick' just to match the gender. Just keep that in mind. Also, some weapon / armour combos are very unlikely and some are hard to craft so if you just blindly make 2 of each armour set you might get models you won't use often (as an example I think I have 180 campaign hours at this point and have never successfully crafted lantern armour). Leather is by far the most common set, followed by rawhide. The cool thing though is that rawhide/leather/antelope armour all really look 'pre bronze age' enough that so long as the weapon matches, people identify their minis really easy.
