Khorne Decimator Painted

Here's my finished Khorne Decimator!  I'm glad I repainted it from the original nurgle colour scheme (more photos here) and made some more subtle little additions.  This is definitely more of a Khorne war machine than Nurgle. It's not easy to see in the photos (I could not get a good angle) but if you look close you can see that I've added a bloodletter mouth/tongue and its horns behind the faceplate.  There are also skulls in a few spots (nothing too overwhelming).

The black paint is basecoated with chaos black then painted from above with vallejo dark grey blue followed by adeptus battlegrey highlights, a black wash then re-highlighted.

The skulls on this shoulder pad were strategically placed to cover up some damage which occurred when I pushed to hard during assembly and poked a hole through the resin.

Here's what the original nurgle version of mine looked like.  I wasn't entirely happy with the paint job and the model just fits much better with the Khorne theme.

  2. The repaint is amazing. Great job! Just love those blacks and the weathered metal, and the nicely done weathering on the brass. It's awesome!

    1. Thanks man. Too bad I took the photos after sealing it. He's a bit shiny now :(

    2. Can always do some matte sealer, then go back and just hit up some sharp highlights with some metallics. Realize I state this when I am always TERRIFIED of sealing my models.

    3. I used to always do a seal then a matte on everything. But when the arosols I used were discontinued I stopped. Too scared to try new things. I even have some Microsol? for an airbrush but too scared to use it. I could, at this point, stand to do a couple hundred minis...
