Gaming Table Build - Part 1

Here's a spur of the moment project I decided to do.  I wanted a folding table for my gaming room (which isn't a large room) that would fold up and out of the way.  At the same time, I also wanted to be able to hide a bunch of folding chairs inside it so they'd be out of site out of mind.  So I went and bought some wood and got started!  There's a folding leaf on each side that will hang down when put away.  The end result will be a 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 foot table which is big enough for any game we play (realm of battle boards would overhang slightly).

It's just for gaming so I didn't go out and get super fancy wood.  Just knotty pine and the 'box' is mdf.  I'll cover it with some oak veneered plywood though.  I put the plans together (and redid them a few times) and think it will work.  These two pictures show proof of concept.  I'm going to paint it before I add the table top though for ease of access.

The Plans!

  1. I love watching projects like this come together! If only I had your woodworking skills. Keep up the great posts.

    1. Hahaha that's the best compliment but very misplaced. I have a tape measure, some 2x4s and a circular saw. Nothing fancy, and it wobbles a bit. I'll need to sand the legs. For the cost of a few 2x4s you could experiment easily!

  2. I always look with envy at others gaming tables. Looking forward to see how this one comes out!
