[Emerald Fists] Space Marine Basilisk - Painted

My Space Marine Basilisk is all painted up.  You can see prepaint photos here.  It was based on a basilisk with some cutting and plasticard.  I think it fits in nicely!  The barrel goes up but it doesn't really like to stay there and falls with a stiff breeze.  That's the only bummer.  I built this a long while ago, before Forge World made their version (which is really nice) but I do like the enclosed hull.  Photos and angles:

    1. Thanks, I really enjoyed making this model, then repurposing it to space marines. I really need to find some user friendly LED lamps for my cabinet though. Can't see this on the bottom of it.

    2. Sounds like the newer painted models should move up the cabinet shelves :)

    3. I reorganize from time to time, right now I'm waiting to sell my space wolves and free up a shelf. The top shelf right now is reserved for the Khorne things and Nurgle stuff. Basically the brighter colours look better :)

I also might want to put some star wars armada things in there since those just look awesome.

    4. I know my wallet will empty the second the imperial comes out in wave 2...

    5. I picked up one of each thing so far for Imperials (I had to hold off buying everything this go around - not like X wing). Though I think it's my new favourite game so definitely preordering the Raider and ISD.

    6. I haven't played it yet, but looks great fun!

    7. Well it has a "you move a unit then I move a unit" playstyle which keeps people actively engaged, you're encouraged (at least we think so) to upgrade ships instead of min-maxing, and you have to plan ahead because you shoot THEN move instead of the other way around. Super stressful haha.

    8. Shoot THEN move? Woah!!!! I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe amazon will have a sale!

  2. Oh I really like this model. It doesn't even look like a conversion, excellent work.
The weathering really sets it off. Do you use pigments? I'm wanting to do some weathering on my vehicles but my colour scheme (deep violet) has left me unsure what colours to use.
It's a fine addition to your Emerald Fists!

    1. Thanks man. No, no pigments here. I have used black pigments on my aircraft but it's messy and in lots if instances what I was doing could be covered with black drybrushing.

These look gritty because it's washed, then drybrushed with two successively whiter layers which makes it look dirty. The chipping is just one paint colour. I think it really only works because it's cream coloured.

Your slaneshi stuff is such a crisp purple which looks great on its own. I wouldn't want to get washes involved. Pigments on your stuff might work really well though, I just have very limited experience so can't offer any info. My fallback is always the sponging.
