I finished painting my Captain on bike and wanted to share. Not much to say really, just look at him fly! I now have an HQ and 2 troops choices painted so it's a 'legal bike army'. I used him in a 500 point demo game with a friend but didn't but him any special weapons. Boy is it a waste of points to have this guy roam around without a power weapon of some sort.
That is really slick! Love the sense of motion it has, and the marbling effect on the base is really cool. Great work!
ReplyDeleteIt does look great.
ReplyDeleteI do love 500 pt games short - sweet and entertaining but it definitely makes you think about war-gear choices. Is that item worth the 10 pts or not? lol
It was good to show him the game, but too small for any tactical thinking in my opinion. Army discrepancies are HUGE at this level and really small things can change the flow of the game (or balance) really quickly.
DeleteThe key to 500 pt games is not to use any high level HQs (unless that is part of a narrative campaign - "Cpt Titus saw the hole in his lines and swiftly went to plug it with his honor guard" 6 guys vs 40 Orks...
ReplyDeleteYou relax the must have an HQ requirement - and do it on the squad level.
Look up the "40k in 40 min" rules. Changes a few things to get a quick game in and still have tactical options.
I do understand where you are coming from though its nice to have larger armies where the tactical options are more in depth.
I've played those rules but I find them boring. Playing marines and having 2-3 units isn't very fun. Also makes wiping a unit or a bad roll hurt too much.
