Plague Hulk of Nurgle Final - Plus Rust Tutorial

I'm no expert, but I wanted to show how I did the rust on my plague hulk (also write it down so I'd remember).  I've posted some photos for the major steps (sorry not all there since I got excited).  At the bottom you can see the final photos for my Plague Hulk of Nurgle.  Probably one of my favourite models now.

Nurgle Plague Hulk P3

Some really enjoyable progress here.  Detail shots of all of the body which I think is 'done' now.  You can see some nurgle's rot on a few parts too.  I'm quite happy with the rust overall though.  I went with a boltgun metal base, tin bits stipple, dark brown stipple, light brown stipple, then orange stipple followed by a brown wash, then re stipple orange and then an orange wash.  Sounds complicated but you can't really mess up.

Nurgle Plague Hulk 2

Back to the nurgle...doing some details on the plague hulk.  The plague hulk itself is a mix of browns, yellows and washes.  The guts I tried to go with pastels (bright reds would look too fake I thought) so Talarn flesh and a red wash was sufficient.  I also drybrushed all of the pustules with rotten flesh to make them lighter and look burst ready.

[Dreadtober] Contemptor Dreadnought - Complete

Finished paint job on my 2nd Emerald Fists Contemptor Dreadnought.  The first one is here. The shoulders come from puppetswar (I got them years ago).  I like this guy more than my other 'basic' contemptor since he has more regal bits and seems more deserving of gold trim haha.  I think eventually I want a 3rd one (probably with the forge world Imperial Fists model) holding a shield.  I've got something in the back of my mind for that.  #Dreadtober,

[Dreadtober] Emerald Fists Contemptor Dread Part 2

#Dreadtober update.  Speeding along with the details now.  Some green and gold to really bring out the relic nature and the battle damage is done.  I have to do finishing touches, and finish the base and weapons but I'm narrowing in.  I really enjoy vehicle painting.  They're super fast (see image haha) so you get a product much faster than painting hordes of infantry.

[Dreadtober] Contemptor Dreadnought Part 1

A quick alteration in the queue, in support of #Dreadtober, the Nurgle Plague hulk will be put aside for more of a classic dreadnought.

Here is a progress shots of my contemptor dreadnought which is being re-purposed from an Adeptus Custodes version.  The gold one was old and not uniform with the rest of my forces.  They should look like twins in the cabinet right?!

A bath in simple green and a new base coat and it's ready to go.  The simple green seemed to dissolve all of the superglue holding the magnets in but that was an easy fix.  The base coating, shading and damage parts are now done.  More time will be needed for details and metal work.

Nurgle Plague Hulk P1

Something gripped me in a while ago; no not the plague, but inspiration and I decided to paint this guy up.  My initial idea came from watching Sin City and I wanted to emulate the gross yellow bastard for skin tone on this model.  I think my airbrush needs a good cleaning or the paint is old though since you can see it's speckling now (on the black).
